Recorder Songs

     Play your recorder along with the music on this page!

  If the songs do not play when you double click on them, have your Mom or Dad or older brother or sister help you by clicking here for help.    

     If your school is using the "Recorder Karate" book, then you can practice these songs and get ready to earn your colored belts! Each song shows which color belt it will earn if you learn to play it well. There are also some extra songs that may not be in your "Recorder Karate" book - Mr. McDade and Mr. Gibbs have rated them according to the color belt we think that song should earn. Independence   Elementary students should be ready to play a song at the Medium tempo with only two or three mistakes in pitches or rhythm in order to earn your belt for that song.

"Ode To Joy" is the theme to the 4th movement of the 9th Symphony composed by the great  Classical composer, Ludwig van Beethoven. The 9th Symphony was the last symphony for orchestra that Beethoven completed. It is a very important and significant symphony in the history of Classical music - one reason is that Beethoven was the first composer to use a choir in a symphony. The Choir sings the "Ode To Joy" melody in the 4th movement of the 9th Symphony.
